Abstract

1442255 Stepping motor control MOSKOV ENERGETICHE INST 13 Feb 1974 06462/74 Heading H2J An electric motor drive comprises m (m#2) gate controlled electric motors 1, each motor comprising a synchronous machine 2 with a rotor position sensor 4 mounted on the shaft thereof, and gate switching means 5 having gate switch on and switch off control circuits, the gate turn-on circuits for each of the switching means 5 being connected to an output of the rotor position sensor 4 in each preceding synchronous machine, thereby forming a ring. Gate turn-off circuits may be connected to a second output of the preceding rotor position sensor, or to a second output of the sensor of the same motor. Phase measuring devices may be provided for each consecutive pair of motors and used to control the individual speeds thereof so that they all run synchronously, to allow for different loads on the motors. A relay device, which may be transistorized, may be used to connect the motors so that each sensor controls the same motor during start-up, and the ring arrangement is restored subsequently. Also torque sensors may be used to measure phase tag and velocity of each motor, a relay arrangement being provided to withdraw a stalling motor from the ring.
