1441880 Fatty acid esters of pentaerythritol and 1,1,1-tri(hydroxymethyl)propane AJINOMOTO CO Inc 26 Nov 1974 [29 Nov 1973] 51244/74 Heading C2C A process for producing an ester of one or more fatty acids from an oxidate produced by reacting at least one paraffin with gaseous oxygen in the presnce of a catalyst, the oxidate comprising the one or more fatty acids and unreacted paraffin(s), comprises holding a mixture of the oxidate and at least one polyhydric alcohol selected from pentaerythritol and 1,1,1 - tri(hydroxymethyl)propane at a temperature above the boiling point of water until the one or more fatty acids react with the polyhydric alcohol to form one or more fatty acid esters of the polyhydric alcohol.
