Abstract

1441532 Fermentation process for producing amino acids AJINOMOTO CO Inc 15 Aug 1974 [16 Aug 1973] 36049/74 Heading C2C Amino acids are made by culturing a grampositive, hydrogen-oxidizing microorganism in an aqueous culture medium containing a nitrogen source and inorganic salts and in the presence of hydrogen (as the energy source), carbon dioxide (as the carbon source) and oxygen. Specified microorganisms are Arthrobacter FERM P2638, Brevibacterium FERM P2234 and Mycobacterium FERM P2235. The culture medium may contain a penicillin (e.g. benzyl penicillin, phenoxymethylpenicillin or ampicillin). Specified amino acids are lysine, histidine, arginine, aspartic acid, threonine, serine, glutamic acid, proline, glycine, alanine, cysteine, valine, isoleucine, leucine, tyrosine, phenylalanine and methionine.
