Abstract
1440904 Discharge printing pastes TORAY INDUSTRIES INC 2 Jan 1975 21/75 Heading D1B A paste used in discharge printing by reduction on polyester fibres comprises a thickening agent, stannous chloride, an amine capable of neutralizing hydrogen chloride and a swelling agent which is a compound of one of the formulae: in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> each represent a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl, amino, alkyl, alkoxy or aminoalkyl radical, R<SP>3</SP> is a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl or aryl radical, m is 2 or 3 and n is 1 to 10. The amine may be hexyl amine, heptyl amine, nonyl amine, decyl amine, tetramethylene diamine, pentamethylene diamine, hexamethylene diamine, urea, thiourea or ethylene urea. Swelling agents include diphenyl, 44'-dihydroxydiphenyl, 44'-diaminodiphenyl and p-phenyl-phenol. Polyester fibres are dyed with a ground dye followed by applying the paste as above in a predetermined pattern, drying and steaming at 115‹ to 210‹C to cause the discharge to take place. Preferably 3 to 20% by weight of the paste may be stannous chloride, 3 to 20% amine and 2 to 8% swelling agent.
