Abstract

1440894 Electric couplings LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GmbH 25 Jan 1974 [27 Jan 1973] 03617/74 Heading H2E A device making selective connections to pins 8 comprises perforated metal plates 6, 7 which are covered on all surfaces with an insulating coating 13 and superposed with their perforations 9 aligned so that the pins pass therethrough, a selective connection between a pin and a plate being effected by means of a conducting sleeve 14 fitted over the pins and pressed into the appropriate perforation whereby it abrades the coating 13 within the perforation to contact the plate. A plurality of edge connectors 2 are mounted on an aluminium base plate 3 with contact pins 8 of the edge connector extending through holes in the base plate but in general insulated from the base plate by extensions 11 of the edge connector. Insulating layers 4,5 and coated metal plates 6, 7 are stacked alternately on the pins 8 along with sleeves 14 as selected. Connections of a pin to the base plate 3 is made by removing an extension 11 and inserting a sleeve 12 into the base plate hole around the pin. The plates 6,7 are connected to supply voltages and the plate 3 to earth. The sleeves 12, 14 (Fig. 3-5, not shown) each comprise a cylindrical body with an axial slit (20) and chamfered ends (17); the external surface has teeth (18) for abrading the coating within the perforations 9.
