Abstract

1440154 Extracting castings DANSK INDUSTRI SYNDIKAT A/S 14 June 1974 [9 July 1973] 26566/74 Heading B3F [Also in Division H1] Castings 3 are removed from sand moulds 2 by means of a plurality of magnets 18 which are moved towards the end of a row of moulds until each of the magnets is in contact with a surface of the casting and are then collectively moved away from the moulds. The magnets 18 are mounted in a casing 12 suspended from a carriage 14 movable along a pair of guides 15. When a magnet first contacts the surface of the casting further movement of the carriage causes the magnet to be pressed back relative to the casing 12 against the action of a spring. This causes the magnet to rotate so that the front face of the magnet scratches away any sand remaining on the casting, and permits all the magnets to contact the surface irrespective of the shape of the latter. The magnets are then locked in position relative to one another and collectively moved away from the moulds. A stripper plate 19 provided with a hole for each of the magnets and movable relative to the casing 12 then pushes the casting off the magnets so that it drops on to a conveyer 22. The moulds 2 are movable along a track 1 provided with a frame 5 carrying a hook 6 which holds back the exposed casting 3 after the preceding mould part has been pushed over the end of the track 1 on to a conveyer 7.
