Abstract

1440066 Anti-skid fluid pressure braking systems GIRLING Ltd 17 Aug 1973 [26 Sept 1972 23 May 1973] 39026/73 Divided out of 1440065 Headings F2F and F2E The description of Figs. 1-13 of this Specification generally corresponds to the description of Figs. 1-13 of Specification 1,440,065 but the claims are directed to a fluid pressure braking system incorporating an actuator assembly with a pressure operated member and a spring- applied fluid pressure released member, skid control means and a parking brake valve. Figs. 14-18, however, illustrate modifications of the system shown in Fig. 1. In the embodiment of Fig. 14, the actuator assemblies 16 of the front brakes are replaced by disc brake actuators 130 and hydraulic modulator control valve assemblies 131 in a supply line 15 from valve 14. The actuators 130 have no parking facility and pressure space 25 in valve 26 is not used. In the embodiment of Fig. 15 the valve 14 is replaced by a pneumatically boosted tandem hydrostatic master cylinder 134. An air compressor 135 supplies two accumulators 136 via an unloader valve 137, and a dual treadle valve 138 controls the supply of air to two chambers 139. Fig. 16 (not shown) has disc brakes (130) on the front wheels and a pneumatically boosted master cylinder (134). Fig. 17 (not shown) illustrates the control valve (23) remote from the actuator assembly (16). In the modification of Fig. 18, there is a combined service and parking brake actuator and the applied pressure for service braking supplied through line 19 is modulated by a remotely located modulator/control valve assembly combined with the control module 22.
