Abstract
1439993 Relay test apparatus SIEMENS AG 28 Aug 1973 [29 Aug 1972] 40504/73 Heading G1U In a preliminary step of a method of testing a relay P, Fig. 1, the current through the relay coil as a result of a voltage applied to it by a unit U2 also passes through a selected resistor BV and the voltage e thereacross is compared V (by a connection from e to a not shown) with a reference voltage produced by a device UV1 in accordance with the particular type of relay under test, and any difference between the two voltages is reduced towards zero by a program device PE which appropriately adjusts the effective gain of an amplifier VP and the unit U2. This preliminary step of adjusting the voltage applied to the relay to that value which causes a standard current to flow, is necessary because even though the number of turns of the relay coil will be known its resistance may vary by up to 10% because of irregularities in the winding pattern.
