Abstract

1439523 Valved pipe branch; valves BOPP & REUTHER GmbH 6 July 1973 [6 July 1972] 32419/73 Headings F2G and F2V A tapping branch unit includes a valve 6 comprising a rubber tube 7 and a pressure member 8 which acts against the tube from the side to close the valve. As shown, the member 8 has a tapered and rounded convex nose. When the main pipe 2 is to be tapped, a closure plug 16 is removed and a valve spindle (19) (Fig. 4, not shown) is screwed into a bore in the member 8 and into the bore 12 in the body 1. The valve spindle comprises a plunger operated by a threaded rotatable sleeve to move the member 8 towards or away from the tube 7. The pressure member 8 may be of injection moulded plastics.
