Abstract

1438731 Contact printing HOECHST AG 17 June 1974 [19 June 1973] 26670/74 Heading G2A An internally illuminated rotary contact printing cylinder 1 has an internal wiper (which may be in two or more sections) extending across substantially the whole width of the cylinder outside the illumination zone, which is provided by a lamp 5 and a reflector 6. The original and copy material may be fed by a band 3 (as shown) or rollers. The wiper may be of absorbent or brush material and may be a fixed blade or a fixed or rotary roller (rotating at a different speed or different direction (as shown) from the cylinder). The bristles of a brush roller 7 are preferably set at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis of the roller. It may be cleaned by one or more earthed suction nozzles 9 projecting into the bristles and extending along the length of the roller. A second wiper may be provided outside the cylinder (e.g. a brush roller 8, as shown).
