1438527 Feeding tobacco ROTHMANS OF PALL MALL CANADA Ltd 16 Aug 1974 [22 Aug 1973] 39875/75 Heading A2C Tobacco is showered onto a conveyor 22 by directing upwardly a stream of tobacco 46 towards a plurality of rotating discs 36. Each disc has air-permeable, tobacco impermeable walls enclosing an interior which is connected to source of vacuum. A fixed shoe 42 is provided in the interior of the disc at that part of the discs are adjacent the conveyor tobacco thus initially adheres to the disc under the action of the internal vacuum but is released onto the conveyor as rotation of the disc brings the tobacco opposite the vacuum shoe 42. The conveyor is also air-permeable so that an upwardly applied air-stream causes tobacco to adhere to the conveyor.
