Abstract
1438479 Ketals; steroid oximes ALLIED CHEMICAL CORP 11 March 1975 [15 April 1974] 10159/75 Headings C2C and C2U The invention comprises compounds of the formula where R<SP>1</SP> is H, C 1 -C 4 alkyl or phenyl, or R<SP>1</SP> together with the 6-membered ring forms a polycyclic structure, X is a group of the formula where R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> are C 1 -C 10 alkyl, cyclohexyl or cyclohexyl substituted by C 1 -C 4 alkyl and R<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>5</SP> are H or C 1 -C 10 alkyl or R<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>5</SP> together with C<SP>a</SP> and C<SP>b</SP> form a cyclohexyl group. The invention further comprises dimers of the formula where X is a group of Formula II and R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> are as defined above. Compounds of Formula IV may be prepared by reacting compounds of the formulµ and R<SP>3</SP>ONO in an inert solvent. Compounds of Formula I may be prepared by isomerizing compounds of Formula II or by reacting a compound of Formula V with a nitroxyl halide, a base and an alcohol of the formula R<SP>3</SP>OH in an inert solvent, or by reacting an R<SP>1</SP> substituted cyclohexanone with a nitroxyl halide, an acid and a diol of the formula in the presence of an inert solvent having a dielectric constant of at least 12 and subsequently neutralizing the resulting acid salt intermediate. Compounds prepared include 3,3-dimethoxy- 2-oximocholestane.
