1438374 Preparation of azo compounds EASTMAN KODAK CO 10 Aug 1973 [16 Aug 1972] 37967/73 Heading C4P A process for the preparation of an azo compound NC-A-N=N-B comprises reacting in a liquid medium, essentially devoid of free cyanide ion, an intermediate azo compound X-A-N=N-B with one or more complexes MCu(CN) 2 , M 2 Cu(CN) 3 or M 3 Cu(CN) 4 wherein A represents an azo dye phenyl component in which the -CN -and -X are attd. to a carbon atom ortho to the azo group; B represents an azo dye coupling component; X represents a halogen atom; and M represents an alkali metal atom.
