Abstract

1438277 Removably supporting rotary scythe cutters MASSEY-FERGUSON PERKINS Ltd 10 July 1973 [11 July 1972] 32305/ 72 Heading A1F [Also in Division E2] The blades of a rotary scythe mower are pivotally mounted in a peripheral aperture of the mower's rotor by an arrangement comprising a pin 44 having upper and lower pairs of laterally projecting chamfered arms 50, 56, a welded wear plate 64 and a resilient plate 70 which is welded to the rotor at its inner end. To mount the blade, the blade is inserted between plates 64, 70 and the pin 44 is inserted through the apertures 68, 66, 45 until the flat, bottom surfaces of the lower arms 56 engage the plate 70 and the top flat surfaces 52 of the upper arms are held just above the lower surface of the wear plate by the resilient plate 70. The pin is turned through 90‹ with a tool whereby the upper arms chamfered side surfaces 54 cam with the wear plate aperture and thereby cam the resilient plate 70 downwardly. The lower arms ultimately engage within the aperture 76 whereby the plate springs up to hold the upper surfaces of the upper arms against the underside of the wear plate 64 upon reverse procedure the chamfered side surfaces 60 of the lower arms cam the resilient plate downwardly whereby the pin can be turned and removed.
