Abstract

1438248 Filling bags W R GRACE & CO 18 Feb 1974 [11 July 1973] 7282/74 Heading B8C A packaging device comprises an expandable shoot 1 for insertion into the inlet of an open bag 2, means 11 for expanding the shoot, and a piston actuated pusher 6 for moving an article through the shoot and into the bag. The shoot 1 and pusher drive 7 are mounted on a carriage 8 which moves the shoot into a bag opened by air from blower 3. The shoot is expanded to grip the bag and the pusher pushes the article until it engages the bag bottom and pulls the bag off the shoot. The filled bag may be evacuated and sealed.
