1437553 Determining skin types LOVIDA AG 3 April 1974 [16 April 1973] 14882/74 Heading G I B A device for determining skin type from data concerning its sebum content comprises one or a plurality of "stamps" each comprised of a handle and a head position, facing away from the handle, having a smooth working surface (which may be flat or curved) comprising an electrostatically chargeable material that will retain a charge sufficient for attracting and retaining sebum and other accumulations from the skin and on which an electrostatic "sebum-content imprint" of the skin is obtained when the working surface is applied to the skin. Suitable materials for making the working surface are solids having a surface tension below 30 dynes per cm., e.g. natural and synthetic resins such as polymethyl acrylate. The stamps may be contained within a container of high dielectric material to help preserve the charge and "sebum-print" thereon. The method of determining skin type by obtaining skin-prints with the article of the invention and comparing them with known characteristics of the various skin types is claimed.
