Abstract
1437265 Cooling discharge apparatus THOMSON-CSF 14 May 1973 [16 May 1972] 22926/73 Heading H1D A discharge tube comprises an anode 3 directly cooled by boiling liquid 4 partially filling a gas tight metal envelope 5 which may be cooled by an external air stream. A tube 7 or cylindrical mesh assists circulation inside the envelope 5. In other embodiments envelope 5 contains a re-entrant tube and air passages extending from this tube through the liquid to the outer part of the envelope 5. The envelope 5 may have a conical upper portion with finned air passages therethrough. In other embodiments the fins 6 may be vertical or replaced by a thick tubular member soldered to the envelope 5.
