Abstract

1436618 Copolymers UNION CARBIDE CORP 25 July 1973 [26 July 1972] 35329/73 Heading C3P Copolymers having an inherent viscosity of 0À2-0À5 (measured at 30‹ C. using 0À2 g. of copolymer in a decilitre of cyclohexanone) and a ratio of weight average to number average molecular weight not greater than 2 are pre- pared containing 70-90% by weight of vinyl chloride, 10-30% of CH 2 = CR<SP>1</SP>COOCHR<SP>2</SP> CHR<SP>3</SP>OH where R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> are hydrogen or methyl and optionally 0-15% of an alkyl (meth)acrylate or vinyl alkanoate. They are prepared in solution maintaining a constant monomer to monomer and monomer to solvent ratio. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,321,168.
