Abstract

1436253 Feeding sliver to spinning machines TOYODA JIDSHOKKI SEISAKUSHO KK 26 June 1973 [7 May 1973] 30329/73 Headings D1D, D1F and D1N In a spinning machine sliver is delivered to each spinning unit through a guide conduit which is of larger diameter than the sliver and having a generally upright portion 5b and transverse lower end portion 5f, the sliver being intermittently taken up from a can 3 by a take up means 7, 15 disposed above the guide conduit into which it feeds the sliver at an instantaneous rate which is greater than the rate at which the sliver is continuously withdrawn from the bottom of the conduit, hence causing a build up of sliver in the conduit. A resiliently loaded flap 5e may be provided on the transverse portion of the conduit or the transverse portion may be shallowly inclined and may also be turnable, Fig. 3B (not shown). The intermittent take up of sliver may be achieved by delivering the same over a constantly driven grooved roller 7 such that when tension on the downstream side is relaxed by a build up of sliver in the conduit 5 slip ocours. Alternatively a feed roller 15 may be associated with a resiliently positioned pressure roller 16 which can be disengaged by a solenoid 19 on receipt of a signal, from a photosensor in the conduit, which is activated when the conduit is full. The conduit may have a sinuous path for the sliver therein formed by a tubular insert or by triangular internal projections. Alternatively a circular section conduit may have annular constructions. Conduits for adjacent spinning stations may be provided by subdivision of the space between wall members extending along the machine.
