1436176 Disperse monoazo dyes SANDOZ Ltd 10 July 1973 [11 July 1972] 32837/73 Heading C4P New disperse monoazo dyes free from watersolubilizing groups of formula wherein R 1 is H or NO 2 and (1) R 2 is H, Cl, Br, NO 2 , alkylcarbonyl, alkylcarbonyloxy, alkoxycarbonyl, phenyl or benzoyl optionally substituted by 1-3 Cl, Br, CN or NO 2 substituents, wherein alkyl or alkoxy are C 1-4 groups and R 3 is Cl, Br, CN, NO 2 , alkoxycarbonyl, alkylcarbonyloxy, benzoyloxy or phenoxycarbonyl optionally substituted by 1-3 Cl, Br, CN or NO 2 substituents, wherein alkyl or alkoxy are C 1-4 groups or (2) R 2 and R 3 together signify -CH=CH-CH=CH- optionally substituted by 1-3 Cl, Br, CN or NO 2 substituents, K is (a) a 1-(#-alkoxycarbonylalkylamino)-naphth-4-yl, 1 - (# - acetoxyalkylamino) - naphth - 4 - yl, 2 - # - alkoxycarbonylalkylamino - methoxyphenyl - 5 or 3 - # - alkoxycarbonylalkylamino-chlorophenyl-6 radical, wherein alkyl and alkoxy are C 1-4 groups or (b) a radical of formula in which each of R 4 and R , which may be the same or different, signifies a hydrogen atom, an unsubstituted alkyl radical or an alkyl radical substituted by up to two substituents selected from chlorine and bromine atoms, cyano, nitro, hydroxy, alkoxy, phenoxy, alkanoyl alkanoyloxy, chloroalkanoyloxy, benzoyloxy, alkoxycarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyloxy, alkylaminocarbonyl, dialkylaminocarbonyl alkylaminocarbonyloxy, dialkylaminocarbonyloxy, phenylaminocarbonyloxy, pyridyl and radicals which alkyl radicals, alkoxy substituents and alkyl and alkoxy moieties in such substituents contain 1 to 4 carbon atoms, which alkanoyl substituents and alkanoyl moieties in such substituents contain 1 to 5 carbon atoms, with the proviso that when one of R 4 and R 5 signifies a hydrogen atom, the other has a significance other than hydrogen, R 6 signifies a hydrogen, chlorine or bromine atom, a cyano, alkyl, formylamino, alkylsulphonylamino, benzoylamino, alkylcarbonylamino, alkoxycarbonylamino alkoxy, cyano, chloro- or bromoalkylcarbonylamino or alkoxyalkoxycarbonylamino radical, which alkyl radicals and alkyl and alkoxy moieties in such radicals contain 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R 7 signifies a hydrogen atom or an alkoxy radical of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R 8 signifies a hydrogen atom, an alkylamino, dialkylamino or phenylamino radical, an unsubstituted alkyl radical or an alkyl radical substituted by a hydroxy, cyano, alkoxy, alkanoyloxy or phenyl radical which alkyl radicals and moieties and alkoxy substituents in such radicals contain 1 to 4 carbon atoms and which alkanoyl moieties in such substituents contain 1 to 5 carbon atoms, R 9 signifies a cyano group or an alkylsulphonyl radical, containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and R 10 signifies an alkyl radical of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a phenyl radical, are prepared by azo coupling. The dyes are used to colour polyester, cellulose acetate and synthetic polyamide fibres in yellow, red and blue shades.
