Abstract

1436039 Hydromassage units JACUZZI RESEARCH Inc 7 March 1974 [28 Sept 1973] 10368/74 Heading A4N [Also in Division E2] A hydromassage unit, for removable installation on the wall of a tub, comprises a power unit 1, a pump and jet head assembly 5, a hollow connecting bridge 9, driving means coupling the power unit to the pump through the bridge, bumpers 38 on the power unit facing the wall 36 of the tub, a clamping bracket assembly 39 movable along bridge 9, and means for locking the clamping bracket assembly at selected positions along bridge 9. The power unit housing 3 encloses an electric motor 11 having a vertical shaft 13 carrying a pulley 15 coupled by a belt 31 to a pulley 27 on a shaft 25 in the housing 7 of the pump and jet head assembly 5. A pump (not shown) preferably of the centrifugal type, driven by shaft 25, draws water through a screen 19 in the bottom of housing 7, and discharges it through a nozzle 21. Clamping bracket assembly 39 includes a housing 41, a bolt 43 slidable in a longitudinal slot 49 in the bottom of bridge 9, and a nut 47 threaded on to bolt 43 and spanning slot 49. A pair of spaced apart bumper knobs 61, (63), Fig. 2 (not shown), on housing 41 have discs 67 fixed to their inner ends. Scalloped edges on discs 67 facilitate manual adjustment of knobs 61 (63) to accommodate clamping bracket assembly 39 to a tub wall of irregular contour. A timer 33 provides automatic control of motor 11, if desired. A manually adjustable air intake 35 supplies air bubbles to the water jet stream.
