1435760 Iron complexes of tetraazaannulenes BASF AG 15 Aug 1973 [4 July 1973] 39558/73 Heading C2C The invention comprises iron complexes having the general formula wherein A and A<SP>1</SP> are, each independently, with an optionally substituted aromatic or heterocyclic ring; and Y<SP>1</SP>, Y<SP>2</SP>, Y<SP>3</SP> and Y<SP>4</SP> are, each independently, hydrogen, alkyl or phenyl, the complex optionally also containing carried oxygen chemically bound therein. They may be prepared by reacting a compound of one of the formulae wherein Q and X are components derivable from a quaternizing agent of the formula XQ, with a compound of the formula and simultaneously or subsequently with an agent yielding iron.
