Abstract
1435701 Measuring tension electrically SIMON-UK Ltd 23 May 1973 [24 May 1972] 24436/72 Heading G1N Apparatus for measuring the difference in tension across a moving web of material comprises a roller 20, Fig. 2 mounted by bearings 21 on a tubular beam 23 at each end, which displaces the web from its straight path between feedrollers, whereby the tension has a component tending to bend the beams 23 and is measured by strain gauges 24a, 24b at one end and 34a, 34b at the other end. The strain gauges are connected in individual bridge circuits whose outputs are compared to determine the difference in tension across the web.
