Abstract

1435638 Fire damper AIR BALANCE INC 5 Aug 1974 [3 Aug 1973] 34458/74 Heading A5A A fire damper comprises a frame 12 delineating an opening 14 through which air may flow, a metal curtain wall 13 made up of damper blades 22 pivotally mounted together and folded in serpentine fashion under normal conditions (Fig. 2 not shown) and held by a fusible link 26, which on melting at a predetermined temperature allows the blades to unfold by gravity, (or in an alternative embodiment where the curtain wall movement is horizontal by a spring), and radiation shields comprising metal or plastics coated asbestos sheets 30 and 31 arranged on both sides of the wall 13 and nested therein when the wall is in the folded position. On unfolding the sheets 30 and 31 cover the area of the wall and prevent heat radiation damage thereto.
