Abstract
1435005 Polarized relays INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 6 July 1973 [7 July 1972] 32223/73 Heading H1N A polarized electromagnetic relay has a permanent magnet within a sealed contact unit arrangement to provide a flux between the armature and cup-shaped member to bias the armature to one position. In Fig. 1, the fixed contact 2 co-operates with a cylindrical armature contact 1 surrounded by a ferromagnetic cup which also surrounds a permanent magnet 5, all in a sealed container 6. The armature may be a ball which rests in the conical end of the cup (Fig. 2, not shown) or a flat disc 1<SP>11</SP> resting on the end of a cup 3 containing the magnet 5. The armature is connected to the cup by a lead 13. The cup may be the permanent magnet (Fig. 4, not shown) and a plurality of contact units may have a common capsule and be stacked to provide a multiple contact relay and/or a cross point relay with contacts requiring energization of more than one coil to effect operation.
