Abstract
1434404 Colour television SONY CORP 5 Sept 1973 [7 Sept 1972 29 March 1973] 41795/73 Heading H4F A PAL colour television signal is supplied to a band pass filter 1, the opposite phase outputs (at Œ90 degrees relative to the input chrominance signal) of which are fed to switches 5, 6 operated at half line frequency, one of the outputs of filter 1 being passed via a 90 degrees phase shifter 10, to provide a chrominance signal in phase with the input chrominance signal, to an adder 11 to which is fed a huecorrecting signal from a movable tap 9a of a resistor 9 connected between the output terminals of the switches 5 and 6. Movement of tap 9a towards the output of switch 5 causes an increase in the output of R-Y demodulator 16 and a decrease in the output of B-Y demodulator 15, whereas movement of tap 9a towards the output of switch 6 cause a decrease in the output of R-Y demodulator 16 and an increase in the output of B-Y demodulator 15. The phase of operation of flip-flop 8 controlling switches 5 and 6 is controlled by a discriminating circuit (not shown) receiving a signal from band-pass filter output 3. A switch (29, Fig. 8, not shown) may be included between movable tap 9a and adder 11 to disable the hue-correcting operation. A saturation level circuit (37, Fig. 8, not shown) may be included after adder 11.
