Abstract

1434293 Leaf stripper H VISSERS BV 26 Sept 1973 [28 Sept 1972] 44978/73 Heading A1F A device for removing the leaves from tubers already extracted from the soil comprises a continuous sieve belt 3 which transports the tubers from the digging apparatus, and a second belt 16 of similar construction passing around two rollers 5 and 17, the former roller located behind and slightly below the rearmost portion of belt 3 and the latter, mounted pivotally to the frame 1 of the device and maintaining tension in the belt 16 by means of a spring 18. Roller 5 cooperates with strip shaped guide members 8, the action of which is to allow the tubers to pass through to a third belt 15, whilst retaining the leaves between members 8 and 16. The leaves are then stripped from the tubers between belt 16 and a roller 6 attached to the frame.
