Abstract

1434109 Catalyst for cracking oils W R GRACE & CO 20 Aug 1973 [21 Aug 1972] 39333/73 Heading C5E [Also in Division B1] Hydrocarbon feeds are cracked in the presence of a silica-alumina hydrogel composition containing from 8 to 50% wt. alumina (based on the total weight of silica and alumina) which has been prepared by (a) reacting 30-90% wt. of an alkali metal silicate with aluminium sulphate; (b) ageing the gel formed at 2-180 mm.; (c) adding further aluminium sulphate or sodium aluminate; and (d) washing. The composition may contain 0À5-50% wt. of a zeolite or 10-60% wt. clay. The examples describe cracking of a gas oil feed at 920‹ F. at a weight space velocity of 40 hr.<SP>-1</SP>
