Abstract

1433740 Brake boosters GIRLING Ltd 19 April 1973 [25 April 1972 30 Nov 1972] 49577/75 Divided out of 1433737 Heading F2F A booster, for a brake system and including a flexible, generally annular diaphragm 24 dividing the housing 10 into two fluid chambers 26, 28, the differential pressure across the diaphragm being controlled by a valve 31 which comprises a flexible closure member 60 located within a bore 38 in the valve body member 32 which is arranged in the housing coaxially of the booster axis, has the radially inner periphery of the diaphragm clamped between an annular sealing surface 115 on the valve body and a retaining member 114 which has an annular screw-threaded portion located coaxially of the booster axis and in engagement with a correspondingly screw-threaded portion on the valve body. The member 114 is recessed to receive a thickened part 25 of the diaphragm 24 which is located by trapping the part 25 between the member 114 and the surface 115.
