Abstract

1433325 Milking apparatus GASCOIGNE GUSH & DENT (AGRICULTURAL) Ltd (Gascoignes Netherlands Co Ltd) 18 April 1973 [18 Jan 1972] 2445/72 Heading AIM Vacuum-operated milking apparatus comprises a teat-cup cluster 1 including a claw 2 as disclosed in Specifications 648455 and 815398. Milk flow to a pipeline 4 is measured by a device 3 disclosed in Specification 1280160. When the milk flow-rate falls to a predetermined value, a signal from a sensing probe in the device 3 causes control apparatus 5 to energise a solenoid valve 6 which connects a cylinder 7 to a vacuum line 20. A piston 8 in cylinder 7 rises and pulls a cord 9 which operates a piston valve 10 in the claw 2. The teat cup cluster is thus detached from the cow's udder by operation of the valve 10 and then hangs suspended from the cord 9 clear of the floor. The apparatus is reset for milking another cow by operation of a button 12. The teat cup cluster may be released at any time by operation of an override button 13.
