Abstract

143,326. Parkinson, T. Feb. 22, 1919. Pneumatic separating.-In a purifying-machine for semolina, middlings, and other broken granular material, of the kind in which the material is acted on by an air current at a plurality of slits or nozzles 7 arranged one below the other, the heavier material at each point being caught and removed by a conveyer 14, while the lighter material falls on adjustable boards or deflectors 16 and is conducted to the next aspirating-nozzle, the nozzles are arranged in separate air trunks 4, 5, 6 to which the air is separately supplied from fans 1 mounted on a common shaft 2. The tailings are removed from the machine by a conveyer 23, and the lighter impurities, which are forced into the main chamber 8, fall to the bottom and are removed by a conveyer 26. The air from the chamber 8 returns to the fans through separate suction trunks 27 provided with regulating-valves 28.
