Abstract

1433009 Injection moulding battery boxes &c COMPAGNIE EUROPEENNE D'ACCUMULATEURS 7 Dec 1973 [7 Dec 1972] 56949/73 Heading B5A Apparatus for injection moulding a receptacle, e.g. a battery box having a base (30) and side walls (31), Fig. 4 (not shown), comprises male and female mould portions 5, 6, 7 and 2, 4 respectively, and at least one bar 21 secured to the female mould portion and projecting into the base-forming part of the mould cavity, the or each bar 21 being adjustable in thickness in order to balance the distribution of moulding material in the cavity. As shown, the male portion of the mould comprises several cores 5, 6, 7 with a bar 21 or 22 facing the space 8 or 9 between adjacent cores. Each bar may comprise an adjustable number of stacked laminar blades screwed to the base 2 by screws 25. Injection is effected through nozzles formed by sleeves 18 made of plastics material and provided with a heater 19.
