Abstract

1432831 Photographic diffusion transfer film assemblage POLAROID CORP 19 April 1973 [24 April 1972] 19004/73 Addition to 1269805 Heading G2X A photographic film assemblage comprises a plurality of dye diffusion transfer film units stacked in a container which comprises a forward wall having a light transmitting section to permit exposure of the forwardmost film unit and a withdrawal opening at one end permitting withdrawal of the forwardmost film unit after exposure in the container, each film unit comprising (A) a photo-sensitive laminate containing, in order, a transparent support, an image-receiving layer, an opaque reflecting layer, and a photo-sensitive silver halide layer having associated therewith a dye image-providing material, (B) a transparent sheet superposed on and coextensive with the laminate surface opposite the transparent support, and (C) a rupturable container of an aqueous alkaline processing composition containing an opacifying agent positioned at the leading end of the film unit to discharge its contents upon compression between the sheet (B) and the laminate (A), and having their sheets (B) facing the forward wall and their rupturable containers (C) located adjacent the withdrawal opening, and liquid distribution means comprising a pair of juxtaposed pressure-applying members at the end of the container associated with the withdrawal opening providing a convergent passage through which the film units are withdrawn, and leader means manually engageable for withdrawing film units in succession from the container between the pressure-applying members. An assemblage 44 of film units 10 may comprise a container 46 having a forward wall 48, side walls 50, a trailing end wall 52, a leading end wall 54 and a rear wall 56. The forward wall 48 may comprise an exposure aperture 58, and leading end wall 54 a rectangular withdrawal opening 160 the forward edge of which is defined by forward wall 48. The end wall 54 may have two projections 62 to ensure that only one film unit 10 passes through opening 160 at a time. The assemblage initially has an actinic light-impermeable sheet 64 to prevent the admission of light having a leader 66. Each film unit 10 has a leader 31 attached at its trailing end 40 to the forward surface of the film unit near the leading end thereof and to the trailing end of the next preceding film unit 10 or light-impermeable sheet 64. The liquid distribution means may comprise an integral pressure-applying device 70 coupled to container 46 having a leading end wall having a forward section 80 and a rear section 82 separated from one another by a withdrawal opening. The forward and rear sections 80 and 82 have edge portions rolled on themselves to form pressure-applying members 90 and 92 having a passage 84 between them.
