Abstract

1432249 Octa- and nonapeptides E R SQUIBB & SONS Inc 15 May 1973 [1 June 1972] 23185/73 Heading C3H The invention comprises octapeptides of the formula wherein N is cyclobutylcarbonyl, cyclopropanecarbonyl, or cyclohexylcarbonyl, O is Trp, Tyr, Tyr(Bzl), Pne, Gly, Leu or D-Trp, and X is Gln or Glu, nonapeptides of the formula wherein O<SP>1</SP> is Tyr, Tyr(Bzl), Phe, Gly, Leu or D-Trp, and the nonapeptide of the formula and salts thereof. The peptides are obtained by standard procedures. The following intermediate peptides are also prepared H-Tyr-Pro-OH.trifluoroacetate, HPyr-Tyr-Pro-OH, Z-Pro-Pro-OBu<SP>t</SP>, wherein Z is benzyloxycarbonyl, Z-Ile-Pro-Pro-OBu<SP>t</SP>, Z-Gln-Ile-Pro-Pro-OBu<SP>t</SP>, Z-Pro-Gln-Ile-Pro- Pro-OBu<SP>t</SP>, Z-Arg(NO 2 )-Pro-Gln-Ile-Pro-Pro- OBu<SP>t</SP>, H-Arg-Pro-Gln-Ile-Pro-Pro-OH.2HCl, Z-Phe-Pro-OBu<SP>t</SP>, Cpc-Phe-Pro-OH, wherein Cpc is cyclopropylcarbonyl, H-Trp-Pro-OH. trifluoroacetate, Cpc-Trp-Pro-OH, H-Tyr(Bzl)- Pro-OH.trifluoroacetate, H-Pyr-Tyr(Bzl)-Pro- OH, Cpc-Tyr(Bzl)-Pro-OH. Certain of the peptides absorb ultraviolet radiation and may be used to prepare suntan lotions or creams.
