Abstract

1431543 Discharging from hoppers; endless conveyers; sweep arm silo unloaders AUSTIN HOY & CO Ltd 23 March 1973 [24 April 1972] 18975/72 Headings B8S B8A and B8E A silo, Fig. 1 (not shown), is discharged by means of a bottom unloader which is mounted for pivotal movement about a vertical axis (11) at the base of the silo, the bottom unloader comprising a sweep arm 12 around which is formed a track for an unloading endless chain 2 driven by drive means (not shown), the chain 2 being fitted with conveying paddles 4 which move within an area beneath shroud plates 3 which are fixedly attached to the arm 12, an aperture 5 being formed in the shroud plates 3 through which material in the silo passes to come into contact with the paddles 4 in order to be conveyed out of the silo. In the embodiment of Fig. 5 (not shown), an adjustable shroud plate (6) is provided in addition to a fixed shroud plate (3) in order to vary the size of the aperture (5) disposed between the plates (3, 6). In the embodiment of Fig. 6 the material enters the unloader at its nose portion (3) while in the embodiment of Figs. 8-10 (not shown) the sweep arm (12) is complately surrounded by a fixed plate (15) having apertures (16) formed therein, and inside the plate (15) are arranged sliding side plates (17) which are provided with corresponding alignable apertures such that by varying the positions of the sliding plates relative to the fixed plate the sizes of the effective apertures in the fixed plate may be varied.
