Abstract

1431501 Preparation of phloroglucinol and ethers thereof OCE-ANDENO BV 4 Dec 1974 [11 Dec 1973 (2)] 57427/73 and 57428/73 Heading C2C Compounds of formula wherein all the R groups are the same and each represents a hydrogen atom or a (C 1-2 ) alkyl group, are obtained by reacting a compound of formula (wherein all the Hal groups are the same and each represents a halogen atom) with an alcoholate of formula R<SP>1</SP>OMe (wherein R<SP>1</SP> represents a C 1-2 alkyl and Me represents an alkali metal atom) in the presence of a copper salt and an aprotic solvent to form a compound of Formula I wherein each R group represents a (C 1-2 ) alkyl group, if desired dealkylating the product to obtain a compound of Formula I wherein the R group represents a hydrogen atom.
