1359029 Production of diphenyl ethers HOOKER CHEMICAL CORP 20 Dec 1971 [7 Jan 1971] 59179/71 Heading C2C Diphenyl ethers are prepared by reacting a phenol (which is optionally substituted) with a halobenzene (which is optionally substituted) in the presence of a solvent of formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> is a (C 1-4 ) alkyl group inthe presence of an alkali metal hydroxide at a temperature of from 0 to 250‹ C.
