Abstract

1431225 Cutting tool L R TOLL 23 Nov 1973 54524/73 Heading B4B A cutting tool 6 for cutting sheet material such as plastics comprises an elongated member defining a handle, one end of the member being formed with an open-ended slot 8 extending axially of the member and defining two limbs 8a, 8b, the free end of the limb 8a projecting beyond the free end of the limb 8b, a pointed scribing member 10 being secured to the limb 8a so that the point extends into the slot in alignment with the free end of the limb 8b, and the other end of the member being provided with a further pointed scribing member 15. In use, e.g. for cutting an overhanging portion of a laminated plastics sheet secured to a table top, Fig. 4, the slot is slipped over the overhanging portion and the tool moved back-and-forth until the scribing member partly cuts through the sheet. The tool is then moved downwardly to thereby break off the overhanging portion. Alternatively, the scribing member 15 can be drawn along a rule to cut partly through the sheet, the slotted end then being used to effect the breaking off of the waste portion.
