Abstract

1431061 Refractory blowing lances FOSECO INTERNATIONAL LTD 2 April 1974 [25 April 1973] 19650/73 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions C7 and F4] In treating molten metal by injecting a stream of gaseous material using a lance, the outer metallic surface of the lance tube bears a plasma-sprayed coating comprising at least one refractory non-metallic material and/or refractory metal, i.e. of M.pt. # 2000‹C. The lance may be of steel, Al alloy, Cu, or Zn; the coating may be 0.05-1.0 mm. thick, and comprise one or more of alumina, zirconia, titania, chromia, Mo, W, Nb, Ta, or Zr.
