Abstract

1430759 Moulding battery box lids JOSEPH LUCAS (BATTERIES) Ltd 28 Aug 1973 [31 Aug 1972] 40361/72 Heading B5A A mould for producing a battery lid 11 having a base 12 with a skirt 13 and ribs 14 projecting therefrom includes relatively movable first and second die parts 15, 16 defining a cavity 17 having channels 18 for moulding the ribs 14, and a stripper mechanism comprising bars 19 located in the channels 18 and carried at their ends on a frame 21 extending around the die part 15, the frame being movable to eject a moulded battery lid by engagement of the bars 19 with the ribs 14 on the lid. The die part 15 may be cooled, by fluid circulating in a chamber 24 in the die, to assist solidification of the molten plastics material introduced into the mould to form the lid.
