1430722 Sliding clasp fastener stringers YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 23 July 1974 [24 Aug 1973] 32488/74 Heading E2S The invention relates to a pair of stringers for a sliding clasp fastener wherein each of said stringers includes a tape 10, 10' and a continuous fastener filament 11, 11' anchored to said tape, the filament being shaped in zig-zag configuration to provide a row of substantially U-shaped scoops 12, 12' which extend transversely of said tape and each of which consists of a pair of parallel legs 13, 14; 13', 14' and a coupling head 15, 15 interconnecting said legs at the front end of the scoop, one 14, 14', of said legs being longer than the other leg and being folded over at 16, 16' toward said coupling head to provide a folded portion 17, 17' which is sandwiched between said legs 13, 14; 13', 14' in registered relation thereto. The fastener stringers are characterised in that, a series of front connecting portions 18, 18', each interconnecting the front ends of said folded portions of the two adjoining scoops on each tape, are so positioned relative to the scoops on each tape that, when the scoops on both tapes intermesh, the coupling heads of every other scoop on each tape will abut on the corresponding front connecting portions of the other tape whereby the meshing depth of the scoops on both tapes T, T is determined by the position of the front connecting portions relative to said scoops, the continuous filaments 10, 10', which are secured by sewing threads 20, 20' respectively to the tapes 10, 10', are made of metal, synthetic resin, or like material. In a modification, Fig. 3 not shown, the upper leg (13a) is made longer than the lower leg (14a) of each scoop.
