1430565 Opthalmic preparations BARNESHIND PHARMACEUTICAL INC 28 May 1974 [29 May 1973] 23612/74 Heading A5B Stable opthalmic compositions of pH 5.5-8.5 comprise (a) an aqueous medium, (b) 0.1-10 weight % of a C8-12 4-aminoalkyl catechol, (c) 0.1-5% of a vinylpyrrolidone polymer containing at least 70% vinylpyrrolidone residues, (d) 0.1-2.5% of a borate calculated as boric acid and (e) an antioxidant. The aminoalkyl catechol may be of formula; wherein R and R<1> are H or C1-3 alkyl and X is H or OH, e.g. epinephrine. The polymer may be polyvinyl pyrrolidone or copoly(vinyl pyrrolidone/vinyl acetate). The antioxidant may be erythrorbic acid.
