1430406 Bumpers S MITSUI 1 June 1973 26337/73 Heading B7J [Also in Division F2] A bumper bar 24 is extendible forwardly of the front end 10a of a vehicle body 10 by an amount proportional to the speed at which the vehicle is running. The bar 24 is attached to an extendible rod 20 which is connected to an extensible unit 14 operable by a drive unit 16 connected to the vehicle speed change unit. When the bar 24 strikes an object a friction disc 132 is caused to engage the ground to stop the vehicle (see Division F2).
