Abstract

1430372 Toothed gearing ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO Ltd 9 Nov 1973 [9 Nov 1972] 51686/72 Heading F2Q In a gear-box having a single-helix driven gear-wheel 5 and including a plurality of driving pinions 6, 7, 8 engaging the gear-wheel 5, bearings for the gear-wheel and pinions are mounted in two opposing plate structures 16, each plate structure extending as a unitary member between a bearing of the gear-wheel 5 and a bearing of each of the pinions 6, 7 and 8. Each plate structure 16 comprises two walls 17, 18 rigidly connected by a plurality of stiffening webs 19. Recesses are provided in the edges of the plate structures to receive the bearing assemblies which are bolted to the plate structures and enclosed by detachable covers. A stiffening plate A extends between and parallel to the axes of the gear-wheel and pinions, apertures being provided in the plate A at the gear meshing points.
