Abstract

1430050 Closures for coke oven charge holes SIMON-CARVES Ltd 22 Aug 1974 [7 Sept 1973] 36863/74 Heading C5E A closure device for a charge hole 10 in the top of a coke oven comprises a lid 11 resting on a frame structure inserted in the brickwork 13 around the charge hole, the frame structure comprising an annular member 14 detachably secured to an inner frame member embedded in the brickwork, and separated therefrom by a flexible, heat resistant, heat insulating ring 15. The annular member 14, which is of metal, has a frusto-conical sealing surface 12 on which the lid, which has a complementary surface, rests. The annular member 14 is secured to the inner frame member by means of three projecting lugs 16 on the member 14 which fit into recesses on the inner frame member, and screws 18 fitting into tapped holes 17.
