Abstract

1429819 Etching solution E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 3 Dec 1973 [4 Dec 1972] 55890/73 Heading B6J [Also in Division C7] An aqueous H 2 O 2 solution comprises as a stabilizer against Cu ion catalysed degradation adipic acid, glutaric acid or succinic acid, a mono-, di- or tri-methyl derivative or salt of said acids, or a mixture thereof. A concentrate may be made containing 20-80 wt. per cent H 2 O 2 plus stabilizer. A pickling bath comprises the above mixture, plus a mineral acid, e.g. H 2 SO 4 , HCl, HF, H 3 PO 4 , typical amounts being 0À01-50 wt. per cent H 2 O 2 , 0À01-50% acid, and 0À003-1À5% stabilizer; Cu, Fe and Al may be treated at up to 90‹ C., typically 15-40‹ C. The bath may contain conventional stabilizers, e.g. Na stannate, Na pyrophosphate, fluosilicate, NaNO 3 , or MgSO 4 plus an alkylidene diphosphonic acid.
