Abstract

1428602 Measuring suspended material concentrations in fluid streams AUSTRALIAN PAPER MFRS Ltd 21 Jan 1974 [24 Jan 1973] 02654/74 Headings G1R and G1S The concentration of fibrous material in a fluid stream 1 is indicated continuously by-passing some of the stream through a tube 6 in which a sieve 8 is rotated about an axis transverse to the length of the tube, the sieve trapping and then releasing the material while allowing the fluid and smaller particles to pass through it. Manometer tubes 13, 14 connected to upstream and downstream locations relative to the sieve provide cyclically varying pressure indications related to the amount of material trapped and from which the concentration may be derived. The tube 6 may be connected at its ends to constant-head devices 2, 7 and the manometer tubes may be provided with drain valves 15, 16.
