1427881 Mixtures containing nitroglycerin and polyvinyl pyrrolidone BYK GULDEN LOMBERG CHEMISCHE FABRIK GmbH 7 Jan 1974 [13 Jan 1973] 00620/74 Heading A5B Stabilized nitroglycerin pharmaceutical mixtures, comprising (a) at least one homogenous solid phase comprising nitroglycerin and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) or (b) a solid homogeneous mixture comprising nitroglycerin and a stabilizing amount of PVP, may be prepared by taking up in a solvent nitroglycerin and PVP, optionally with other mixture components and removing the solvent e.g. by spray-drying from the solution or suspension obtained, optionally after the application to further mixture components. Preferably a phase comprising nitroglycerin and PVP includes a polyethylene glycol and a cellulose ether. Nitroglycerin-containing medicaments comprise the above mixtures and optionally further adjuvants usual in pharmacy and/or pharmacologically active substances such as coronary dilators (e.g. erythritol tetranitrate or mannitol hexanitrate) and/or diuretics (e.g. theophylline or aminophylline) and/or antiemetics and/or analgesics and/or spasmolytics (e.g. papaverine or atropine) and/or hypnotics and/or narcotics (e.g. phenylethylbarbituric acid) and/or ethylenediamine dihydrochloride. The medicaments may be in the form of tablets, pills, powders, dragÚes, capsules, wafer capsules or suppositories.
