Abstract
1427807 Press control systems DEMAG AG 7 May 1973 [13 May 1972] 21640/73 Heading B3H The separation X of a pair of dies of a press, such as a forging press, is determined during operation of the press by measuring the separation Y of a pair of relatively movable points on the press and applying a variable correction factor f to the y value to determine the true X value which is compared with the desired X value in a comparator 15 to produce a correction signal C. The separation Y is measured by a transducer 10 and a pressure responsive transducer 11 is programmed by digital or analogue signals representing a pressure-correction factor relationship, Fig. 3 (not shown). The correction factor takes into account distortion of the press frame and press bed. A further correction signal S can be applied from a transmitter 13 responsive to temperature changes and the forging speed. The correction signal C is used in the automatic control of the press or to provide a continuous visual display of the thickness of the forging or a visual or audible indication when the required thickness is achieved.
