Abstract

1427435 Motor circuit phase changing LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS GmbH 22 Oct 1973 [21 Oct 1972 26 April 1973] 49056/73 Heading H2J Apparatus for reversing a 3-phase motor 10 comprises a pair of parallel triacs 11a, 11b and 12a, 12b connected to the R and S supply phases respectively, the triacs 11a, 12b being connected to an output terminal 2, triacs 11b, 12a being connected to an output terminal 4, and a fifth triac 13a connected between the phase 7 and the output terminal 6, the triacs 11a, 12a and 13a being gated on for forward movement of the motor 10 and the triacs 11b, 12b, 13a being gated on for reverse movement, each triac taking part in the phase reversal procedure being in series with an inductor 14a-15b, the properties of which inductor are arranged to limit the rate of voltage rise occurring during commutation to prevent break-down in the triac currently switched off. Each triac is in parallel with a resistor and capacitor circuit 17a-19a and also a switch contact 26a-28b is connected between the supply path and respective gate terminals, which switch contacts are controlled by reed relays 29a, 29b which are in turn controlled by light responsive diodes 30a, 30b connected in parallel as shown, the triac 13a being turned on by either contact 28a or 28b. The inductors 14, 15 may be non-saturable without a core, or they may have an iron core with an air gap, or a sintered iron core with no external air gap. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), two triacs are connected in parallel with phase T and with terminal 6.
